Our Journey

I’ve been passionate about the airline industry since I was a child growing up in Chicago. When I was seven, a neighbor Johanna, a United Airlines ticket agent at O’Hare, took me on my first flight—a window seat on a Boeing 727 from Chicago to LaGuardia. From that moment, I was hooked on aviation.

The next year, Johanna gave me my first OAG (Official Airline Guide)—a Bible back then, for scheduling air travel. I pored over it, writing to airlines worldwide asking for brochures, travel posters, playing cards, wing pins, and memorabilia. Each day, I’d eagerly race to the mailbox, discovering new treasures that I'd use to decorate my room. Looking back, I wish I’d kept all those memorabilia—it was a collection of memories and dreams.

Johanna became like a second mother to me. She never married, had no children and considered me her adopted son. She worked for United Airlines for 42 years and retired shortly after 9/11. Since she had no immediate family, I was fortunate to inherit her travel benefits. I was able to fly the world in her place—a gift I’ll always be deeply grateful for.

Over the years, traveling for work, I spent countless hours in the air. While most business travelers prefer aisle seats, I always chose the window, calling it my “second office”; But with so much time in-flight, I found myself wishing for a better way to organize my essentials.

That’s when the idea for BevLedge was born.

In 2019, I launched the BevLedge—the in-flight organization station designed to hold multiple essentials at once, including two beverages, your phone, eyewear, ear pods, and more—all within easy reach. It’s the perfect solution for passengers to stay organized and focus on what matters most—whether that’s working, relaxing, or enjoying the view.

The BevLedge is a tribute to my lifelong love of aviation and my passion for improving the flying experience. I hope it enhances your travels just as much as Johanna’s generosity and the memories of my childhood have enhanced mine.
